Dear bride,
Not only are these “unprecedented times” to just be alive, you darn well know these are “unprecedented times” to try and have your wedding. You have probably spent the past few months (or maybe longer!) putting in the work that it takes to pull off a wedding, no matter how big or small. During that time, your dreams and visions for your big day may have become more real. For many women, this is a fairytale moment you have envisioned for a long time. Whether you were planning a small gathering of dear family and friends to stand at your side, or a big celebration with people joining from far and wide, you may find yourself with your plans crashing down.
It may be hard to see past the rescheduling, rebooking of vendors, making sure everyone knows and is safe and cared for, and just making a decision about what to do. But please don’t be heartbroken.
Be thankful. Be joyful. Be hopeful. Be gracious.
Don’t be heartbroken.
Remember why you are getting married in the first place. You aren’t marrying your significant other for the act of the ceremony. You aren’t joining in a lifelong union with your soulmate for the cake and the drinks. You aren’t making an oath to God just for the photos in your beautiful dress.
What I hope you take away from this craziness is a welcomed reset. We are all resetting our lives to align with necessary changes, and it has us all slowing down. Taking a step back. Realizing how lucky we are to have our families beside us and safe. To have a home to weather the storm in. To have food at the table, and TP in our bathrooms.
When you start rethinking your wedding plan and making whatever change is right for you, focus on what is most important for your wedding day. To be close to your partner. To be present, I mean really present. To be in love. To be happy. To be thankful.
So make these changes that are right for you with grace and dignity.
And to those of you who know a bride in this situation, don’t forget her. Send her a note. Write her a text. Trust me, she will cherish every word.
With Love,
A fellow #coronabride
